The Lake County Tea Party started April of 2009 and has held several protest’s outside Congresswoman Melissa Bean’s office and Congressman Mark Kirk’s office. We went through a period of just online activity and are now re-energized with new members and sense of purpose.
What is the Tea Party?
The tea party is NOT a political party. It is a group of individuals who came together who believed:
- Taxation was out of control
- Government spending was out of control, i.e. they have a spending problem, not a revenue problem
- Big government breeds corruption
- Big government prevents the economic engine of small businesses from flourishing
Who are we?
We a cross section of Americana and come from all walks of life, political parties and races. We are rich, poor, middle class, young, old, middle aged, teachers, union workers, laborers, elected officials, military, professionals, and business owners.
