I contacted Rep. Bean’s office and the staffer claimed it was the Library Staff that was responsible for maintaining the education nature of the program. When I asked why Rep. Bean did not stop the intimidation, he took my name, address and phone number of the Congresswoman to get bak in touch with me.

Why is Melissa Bean bringing Cook County thuggery to Lake County?

This took place at the Round Lake Area Library last week. I have some questions for the Library Board. I’d suggest everyone call the library and ask your questions as well.

• Would you want your wife or kids exposed to this type of intimidation?
• Why would library security attempt to intimidate someone like that in a public forum?
• Were his actions directed by the library or Melissa Bean?
• When did asking a Congresswoman a question become cause for intimidation?

Lennie Jarratt, chairman of the Lake County Tea Party, said the organization has organized smaller protest rallies outside of the offices of U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean and U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk in the past year, but this will be the organization’s first large event.

“We just wanted to hold a larger event to educate people more about the high taxation in Lake County and the budget and spending issues facing the country and state,” said Jarratt.

A moderate who votes her party not her district? A fiscal conservative who votes to spend a trillion dollars of money we don’t have for something 8th district families don’t want?

This “win” she refers to will be paid for with $569.2 billion in new taxes on American families and businesses. “Is that what winning looks like to you?” asks her Republican challenger Joe Walsh. “For Rep. Bean to invoke the phrase ‘fiscally conservative’ in reference to this government takeover of health care indicates she doesn’t know what those words mean,” Walsh said.

First, there is the $52 billion in taxes on businesses that do not provide what the government deems “acceptable” or “affordable” insurance for workers. Perhaps Rep. Bean can explain to us if this would be considered “moderate” or “fiscally conservative”?

Then, there is the new tax on unearned income (dividends, capital gains, investments, etc.) aimed at the “wealthy” families making above $250,000 a year that will do nothing but promote entrepreneurs not to invest. Does this qualify as “moderate” of “fiscally conservative”?

And, there are the new health care taxes that include: $60.1 billion on health insurers, $27 billion on drug producers and importers, and $20 billion on medical device producers and importers. How do you think $107.1 billion in new taxes on an industry that currently makes up 1/6 of our economy will bode well for job growth? Innovation? Would Rep. Bean term these job-killing, innovation-stunting tax hikes “moderate” or “fiscally conservative”?

Throughout history we have learned if you want less of something tax it, if you want more of it subsidize it. Apparently, Congress wants less jobs because the taxes on business owners are expected to result in lower wages, fewer hours and shipping jobs overseas. Just ask the 130 economists who petitioned President Obama last Thursday not to pass the bill for fear of massive job loss.

“According to the Illinois Policy Institute, Illinois may lose as many as 169,000 jobs as a direct result of Obamacare. If that’s what winning looks like to Rep. Bean then I shudder to think what she considers losing,” Walsh said.

In fact, the only winners in this story are the politicians. By expanding the reach of government, and thereby expanding their control over people’s lives when it comes to something as critical as health care, they will have created more dependency. Democrat dependency, since no Republicans voted for the bill.

612,000 Illinois citizens, many of whom are 8th district residents, will see their health insurance premiums increase by $2,300. They don’t win.

121,722 Illinois seniors, many of whom are 8th district residents, will feel the impact of $500 billion in Medicare cuts. They don’t win.

And neither do future generations of Americans, including the children of 8th district families, who former CBO director Douglas Holtz-Eakin predicts will be left to finance more than $562 billion in spiraling federal debt over the next ten years alone.

This bill is a loser for Illinois and, for it, Melissa Bean should suffer the same fate in November.

Higher taxes, lower wages, fewer jobs, more debt. Four reasons why we couldn’t afford this health care bill and we can’t afford Melissa Bean in Congress.

I attended the Melissa Bean protest this morning outside the Lake Zurich Chamber of Commerce breakfast. For those of you who aren’t aware, this was the event sponsored by the Lake Zurich Chamber of Commerce where only members could attend and only if they paid $25. We decided a protest was in order since Rep. Bean is avoiding her constituents. Even her tele-townhall excluded many constituents.

When I arrived, the police were arriving as well. They told us we could not park in the Banquet Hall parking lot, even though it was nearly empty. They sent us down to the Brunswick Zone parking lot to park. As I was moving my car, I noticed someone yelling at one of the other protesters. Unfortunately was unable to get video of the exchange. I later found out that it was the Chamber of Commerce President Executive Director Dale Perrin who was upset we were there.

There were about 25 people protesting the government takeover of our healthcare and just under 15 promoting big government healthcare. Pictures are below. Notice, the pre-made signs from the Union members and other big government supporters. They had only 1 homemade sign.

The police presence was overkill, there were 12 Kildeer police at the Banquet facilities including the Chief who provided this information. In addition, I asked him was their presence there because of the Banquet Hall paying for their services or were they there for security. His response was for security. I do have to say, all the Officers were very polite to us all. They were willing to tell us where we could park when asking us to leave the Hall parking lot. They also came out and informed both sides that the Brunswick Zone wanted all vehicles moved or they would start towing vehicles. They again told us a place to park.

I will be contacting the Brunswick Zone in Kildeer and their corporate headquarters about this. They did not open until 9 am. I passed by the Zone at 10 am, when leaving, and they appeared to have only about hall their parking lot filled. I believe telling us to move was politically motivated. It happened around 8:30 and about half the people on our side left at that point. The pro big government side continued to have about 10 people. Which at the end of the event we found out why.

Melissa Bean did not stop to speak with any of us protesting. She did wave at both sides as she left with someone driving here away. The big government protesters immediately packed up their signs at left at this point. Many protesters on our side stayed and continued to hold signs for the businessmen leaving the event.

Several of the big government had been allowed to park in the Hall’s parking lot. One car appeared to have a Chamber attendee present in the car, but one car with a couple protesters did not (Video below).

Both the Daily Herald and Pioneer Press interviewed both sides of the debate. ABC News 7 was there, but only attended the event inside. They did not speak to any protester.

Marathon Pundit reported this morning that Melissa Bean was holding a tele-townhall tonight starting between 8:20 and 8:30 pm Central time. He also discovered this call was only going to be open to people who had called before today. When I heard this I thought, cool, I have called plenty of times before, I should get a call. In fact I have called twice and emailed her asking for dates/times for her townhalls and have been told each time I would be contacted when details were set. I never was called.

At 7:40 pm I received a call from Melissa Bean. Guess what, it was saying I had missed the townhall because I didn’t answer the phone. I looked back at my caller ID, since the meeting was not even supposed to be happening for nearly an hour. Interestingly, I had a phone call identified as a cell phone caller from CA at 4:05 pm. It appears once again, Bean is ducking her constituents by holding the call 4 hours early.

Since Melissa Bean won’t speak to us, we can certainly go to her. For anyone interested, let’s protest at the Lake Zurich Chamber of Commerce pay only townhall. Spread the word.
